Ned is a founding partner of Birchmere Ventures where he focuses on cleantech and other engineering driven technologies. He is a current or past director of Cvent, Entigo, Inspired Technologies, Lightningcast, and Plextronics. He is also a Founding Charter Member and current board member of TiE Pittsburgh. Ned serves on the board of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association and on the Pittsburgh Technology Council's Cleantech Advisory Board. Ned is also a frequent guest lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University.

Ned has over 19 years experience in founding, managing, and investing in high technology companies.  Ned was previously a Senior Manager at Concurrent Technologies Corporation, a $225 million high technology research organization, where he developed CTC’s telemedicine business and was also responsible for e-commerce, web programming, high speed networking, and virtual reality projects. Ned was also a Senior Manager in the U.S. Department of Defense Special Projects group where he was responsible for wireless communications, custom software projects, robotics, and various sensor technologies.

Ned holds an M.B.A. from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s in Engineering Management from George Washington University. He also earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
